Izakaya Hopping.
An evening food walk through Naha's lively backstreets — sizzling grills, homestyle kitchens, and the soul of Ryukyuan cuisine.
A four-stop walking tour through central Naha's food alleys, sampling a curated lineup of Okinawan specialties — Goya Champuru, Tebichi, Yagi, Mozuku and more — across small local kitchens, a charcoal grill, the public market, and a final traditional Ryukyuan neighbourhood izakaya. Small-group format, real local spots, no tourist menus.

The day.
- 17:00
Meet & briefing — Yachimun Dori
Gather in the historic pottery district. After introductions, begin with a stop at the fish market to choose your produce fresh. We will then have the local chefs cook up the fish in your preffered style.
- 18:45
Charcoal grill stop
Sample an assortment of kushiyaki skewers and flame-seared specialties such as Aburi Tebichi (pork trotter) or Aburi Mentaiko (grilled spicy cod roe). Approx. 30–40 mins.
- 19:30
Traditional dish stop
Try one Yagi (goat) dish — a true island delicacy once served at festivals and ceremonies. Bold, earthy, and unique to Okinawa.
- 20:45
Final Ryukyua style izakaya stop
Conclude with a selection of light local bites — Umi Budō (sea grapes), Mozuku (vinegared seaweed), Fish Tofu — shared among the group in a relaxed, social setting.
- 21:30
Wrap-up
End the evening satisfied and immersed. Guests can linger for a final drink or stroll back through Naha's lantern-lit streets at their own pace.
There's a way to eat in Naha that doesn't show up on most travel lists. Down side streets, in spots without English signage, where someone behind a counter is grilling skewers over coals that have been burning since the afternoon. That's where this evening goes.
Five stops, four hours, and a guide who knows the streets well. You'll eat what locals eat — Goya Champuru, market-fresh fish to your liking, Yagi (goat) for the brave, and finish with sea grapes, mozuku and fish tofu in a quiet izakaya. The pacing is unhurried. The point is the conversation.
