Three days is enough to reach places most visitors never find. This route moves from jungle waterfalls and coastal cycling in the north, to the open ocean off Izena, a remote island where the food is extraordinary and the welcome is genuine. Now run as an open trip, so solo travellers and small groups can share the road, the boat and the table.

The longer story

The first day belongs to the north. A waterfall, a cycle course, and a night under the stars at glamping or a quiet beachside hotel. The second day jumps to a different rhythm entirely: a ferry to Izena, a half-day boat charter with a local captain, and an evening at a local izakaya with karaoke if the mood takes the group. The third winds down with a hilltop hike, sugarcane pressed straight from the field, a visit to the umi budō factory, and the ferry home.

This island hopping tour in Okinawa gave me a truly once in a lifetime experience. From fishing with a local fisherman, to eating our fresh catch right there on the boat and then experiencing the hospitality of a dinner in their own home!

Good to know
  • Izena is a small island with limited facilities — pack light, leave luggage at base if possible.
  • Boat charter is weather-dependent. We arrange calm-water alternatives if conditions change.
  • Glamping is comfortable, not luxury. Bring a sense of adventure.

Thank you for a great time! I did the 2 day tour with day one being the Culture & Coast Half-Day (City Center → South Coast) and day two being the Half-Day Ocean Cave Exploration. It was very flexible and accomodating around my schedule. I really enjoyed the in depth explanations and experiencing all the spots we visited as well as the tours being filled with fun and laughter. I learned a lot about Okinawa, the culture, stories about the past and people of Okinawa, and was also able about to try a bunch of different food as well as visit local spots. It felt like a true local experience with hidden gems provided by friends. Recommendations for other things to do or places to visit were provided too. There was also some sick film photos taken during the tours. I recommend anyone seeing this to visit Okinawa and especially to book with @thingstodoin.jp to enhance their experience in Okinawa! I’m excited for the next time I visit Okinawa! Would book a different tour in the future!

Really solid tour from start to finish. We went with the island hopping 3 day 2 night tour and joined another group of 3 which was super fun. Would definitely recommend!

Aya was very professional and knowledgeable about the history of Okinawa and what Okinawa can offer outside of its cities. The waterfalls, ocean views, and forests were beautiful to experience and the food was amazing (10/10). Highly recommend this touring company to family and friends. I also plan on coming back! Thank you Aya and David for making Okinawa feel like a second home. Arigato gozaimasu 🙂‍↕️
